D + C has teamed up with singer/songwriter Kristie Yung! Keep your eye on the feisty songstress and producer—she'll be rocking various Design + Conquer pieces in concert and at industry events in the coming months. She'll also be sporting some of our upcoming 2012 designs later this summer.

In the wake of yet another massive earthquake in Japan, Design + Conquer will be donating 100% of the proceeds from sales of our SS 2011 Rendez-vouz earrings (through D + C's online store) to help the animals affected by the quakes and tsunamis in Japan.

From April 7 – 14, 2011 we will be donating all funds from the sales of D + C's Rendez-vous earrings to IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare), one of the largest animal rescue/welfare organizations and conservation charities in the world. They are currently working in Japan to help save the countless critters affected by the earthquakes.

HELP D + C SAVE ANIMALS AFFECTED BY OIL SPILL: UPDATED

D + C urges everyone to help with the animal rescue efforts in the southern US—the British Petroleum oil spill is growing every day, causing environmental and economic devastation. The Humane Society of the United States has not only sent in a team to assess the response efforts to protect wildlife from the effects of the BP oil spill, they have also continued to work with animal shelters in the Gulf Coast region.

Update (July 8th): As a result of the massive spill, there has been a dramatic increase in numbers of surrendered pets (due to the economic downturn in the area). The HSUS transported 30 dogs from two overwhelmed Louisiana shelters to local Washington, DC area shelters where they will have a better chance of being adopted. They also coordinated the distribution of over 12 tons of donated cat and dog food—this has enabled residents whose livelihoods have been disrupted by the spill to continue to care for their pets. The HSUS is not currently engaged in wildlife rescue or rehabilitation as it is being tightly controlled by BP and other authorities. However, The HSUS remains poised to act with staff and volunteers if and when the request is made by those overseeing the cleanup.

DESIGN + CONQUER has seized another store—this time in beautiful Nelson, British Columbia! Home of Steve Martin's 1980s movie Roxanne, epic landscapes, and lilikoi clothing: the latest store to carry D + C's designs. Owner and designer Barbara Boswell prides herself on carrying unique and ethically-made Canadian fashion. Her own clothing line—lilikoi—is hand drafted and graded in Nelson, and is made from sustainable fabrics.

Danke Schoen, ETSY! In celebration of its first international office, ETSY has selected DESIGN + CONQUER to exhibit its work in Berlin, Germany! Chosen from over one million members (only 25 exhibitors were selected), D + C will be exhibiting its Communicator and Big Bang earrings at the month-long show.

One of the largest and most well-known online marketplaces, ETSY showcases handmade and vintage goods from around the world.

Corktown Designs, located in Toronto's historic Distillery District, is selling pieces from D + C's SS 2010 collection. The store offers a striking array of carefully curated international jewellery and accessory designs.

D + C has returned from accessorizing Jessica Biffi's show at LG Fashion Week with a bounty of media coverage!

Innovative designs, electronica music, cheering crowd, black light and amazing video intro...it was an unforgettable show. The first few seconds of the runway portion of the show were black-lit, and only the tips of the model's DESIGN + CONQUER earrings and her dress glowed. Each model in the high-energy show rocked a pair of special edition DESIGN + CONQUER Thruster earrings, and Jessica sported a pair of Big Bang earrings when she walked the runway for her standing ovation. Rawwwrrr!! DESIGN + CONQUER has joined forces with the Calgary Humane Society for the launch of D + C's new collection at Portobello West Calgary. Half of the proceeds from a selected pair of earrings from D + C's spring/summer 2010 collection will go to the organization at the event.

Since 1922, the CHS has provided vital assistance to animals in the Calgary area—including vet services, adoption support, and educational programs. They are the only animal organization in Calgary that does not turn animals away. With over 300 volunteers and a wildlife referral program, the non-profit organization champions the humane treatment of animals.
